However, since that it is only a small airport, it can be quite crowded during the busier season. Taxis at the airport are generally available at all hours, but mostly at the time of arrival flights. Taxis can be reserved in advance, but this is seldom necessary. A taxi drive to the ‘La Cité’, which is the medieval part of Carcassonne, and which is located on the other side of the town from the airport, will take a little longer, and cost about €15.00. Similar to a taxi service, a private transfer can often be arranged from the airport. Private transfers are offered by a variety of companies, and are usually similar in price to that of a conventional taxi. They may even be cheaper, depending on the number of people travelling. Private transfers are best for larger groups of passengers, and are also often chosen by families who have younger children in need of a car seat for the journey, as a car seat can be requested from the majority of service providers. Taxis and private transfer vehicles may also be suitable for the transport of a disabled person in a wheelchair. Special services such as these should be reserved in advance of your arriva.
