Car Rentals at Hyeres Airport

Toulon Airport, in southern France, is approximately 23km from the city of Toulon, and 3km from Hyères. Due to its location, it is often referred to as the Toulon-Hyères, the Hyères Le Palyvestre or as the Toulon-Saint Tropez, as it is nearby the famous resort area of Saint-Tropez. It is distinguished by its code of TLN, and is quite busy, with around 550,000 passengers per annum. The companies available are open at times which correspond to the arrival flights, and their vehicles should generally be booked in advance. To hire a car from this rental location the primary renter and all additional drivers registered on the rental agreement will need to be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid drivers license. Sometimes an International Driving Permit should accompany the local license. It is the usual procedure for renters younger than 25 years of age to pay additional costs for young driver insurance, and these customers may also not be able to hire vehicles from certain categories, in particular those which contain larger vehicles, or cars of a special nature. It will only take about twenty minutes to get into Toulon by way of the A570 and A57, and from Toulon the A50 can be followed to Aubagne and Marseille, a little further to the west. Along this route there are also the areas of La Seyne-sur-Mer, Sanary-sur-Mer, Bandol, La Ciotat and Cassis. Sanary or Bandol can be reached in about half an hour from the airport. In the alternative direction, Saint-Tropez is about a forty-five minute drive from Toulon, and the A57 north can be take towards Cuers and Le Luc, and then the A8 to Fréjus. Further along the A8 route are Cannes, Antibes and Nice. Nice is about an hour and a half’s drive from the location. French roads are generally in good condition, and the main routes are well signposted.

Once your rental contract has expired, return your car to the same parking area at Toulon Airport. Since the car hire companies are not open twenty-four hours a day, there may be options for out-of-office hour returns. However,  one way hire services are offered, allowing customers to deliver their rented car to a different location. Hire cars may travel to all parts of France, and may even be considered as a cross-border rental, travelling into another country, for example, Spain, Italy or Switzerland. Keep in mind that a special tax sticker must be purchased for travelling on Swiss highways.
